Big-cap Companies

Big-cap companies are firms with a market capitalization of more than $10.0 billion. The market capitalization of a company is its value, which is determined by multiplying the company’s share price by its number of shares outstanding. Big-cap companies usually have multiple products in various parts of an economy, diversifying their income stream.

Trading action in the stock market is quite good. The main stock market averages crossed new benchmarks and valuations are not yet stretched. Another earnings season is just around the corner and there have been no major earnings warnings from…

When you think about speculating in the stock market, everyone wants the same thing: the biggest capital gain in the shortest amount of time. Of course, if it were easy to be a consistent stock picking winner, everyone would be…

The stock market is holding up well and it has performed strongly since the beginning of the year. I don’t want to rain on its parade, but I do want to mention that Street analysts have been quietly revising a…

You think your portfolio has problems, what if you were like the many big-cap companies with large cash positions and nowhere useful to put it? What to do with all that cash? As one of these big companies, you could…

The saving grace for stock market investors is its valuation. Corporate earnings are expected to be pretty decent in the upcoming fourth-quarter reporting period. They are also expected to be good in the first quarter of 2012. This, and reasonable…
