What first sparked your interest in tech?

Near the end of my undergrad, I spent some time interning at the Financial Post. My very first story was on Elon Musk’s SpaceX trying to land a used rocket on a floating drone-operated barge in the middle of a gulf. Besides being infinitely fascinating and an absolutely joy to write about, the story was my very first pitch and published piece. The next day Shopify went public and that absorbed the remainder of my time at FP.

What makes tech reporting different than other news?

Cutting-edge tech is having a profound effect on almost every aspect of our day-to-day lives, and tomorrow always brings something new to the table. Essentially, each article about tech acts as a potential preview for what life may look like in the near future.

What interests you about technology stocks?

Technology stocks are great to watch because the market determines in a very concrete way which devices will define our future. By following the emerging tech companies, you get to see in real time which innovations fly and which others will falter.

Marijuana Stocks on the NASDAQ It's been a busy—and, might I add, great—week for marijuana stocks. It appears that the marijuana slump is over and that we're seeing a resurgence across the industry with strong gains over the past five days or so. In this marijuana stocks review…

EMH Stock Riding High Even though the marijuana industry is known for its volatility, 2018 is looking to make the future look downright predictable. The year opened with huge upward swings until about mid-January when marijuana stocks near universally tanked. But late February and early March have seen…

Cronos Stock and Canopy Growth Stock Tackle Nasdaq Right now, two Canadian marijuana stocks are making big waves due to their relation to the Nasdaq: Canopy Growth Corp (OTCMKTS:TWMJF, TSE:WEED) and Cronos Group Inc (NASDAQ:CRON). Canopy Growth Stock Forecast There's a new buzz surrounding marijuana stocks and for once, it doesn't have anything to do with legalization or really marijuana at all. Instead, this wave of excitement is being propelled by what is otherwise pretty standard fare: stock market listing choices. Many companies…

Is Organigram Undervalued? It's hard to talk about value in the marijuana industry. With so much up in the air when it comes to legality and just which markets are going to be open for business and which ones will be prevented from partaking, gauging the true value…

Aurora Stock Faces Tough Times One of my favorite marijuana stocks, Aurora Cannabis Inc (OTCMKTS:ACBFF, TSE:ACB), has fallen on tough times. In the past three months, ACBFF stock has stagnated, only gaining a little over one percent. That time has been punctuated by crests and falls, at one point…

What Makes the Horizons ETF Special Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) are often touted as some of the better investments for small buyers. The data often bears this out, with many ETFs consistently outperforming actively managed portfolios across a wide spectrum of industries. It's no wonder, then, that marijuana ETFs…

Why Are Marijuana Stocks Falling? February 2018 is not a month that will be looked back on fondly by marijuana bulls. The industry has been absolutely slaughtered over the past month, with many companies losing over 20% of their value over the course of four weeks. These marijuana…

Why GWPH Stock Is in a Downtrend With all the hype surrounding recreational marijuana legalization around the world, one aspect of the industry that tends to get left by the wayside is medical marijuana. While there are a great many companies making good money off of the medical…

ACB Stock Split - Is It Coming? Stocks splits are always an interesting proposition. They cause a lot of hype and buzz, often increasing trading activity around a stock based solely on potential. Now, whether that trading is positive or negative varies. In the case of Aurora Cannabis…

Why Is Recreational Marijuana Legalization Delayed? Canada has delayed its recreational marijuana legislation and marijuana stocks have taken note. The legislative dealings surrounding the Canada marijuana legalization process have led to a longer-than-expected timeline for pot to be available in all forms to Canadians. Initially, the drug was…

INSY Stock Lawsuit in New York State Insys Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:INSY) is staring down the barrel of a state lawsuit in New York, alleging that the company promoted its fentanyl-based drug "Subsys" to the detriment of patients' health. Insys Therapeutics stock, meanwhile, has fallen by nearly eight percent…

Marijuana Winners and Losers of the Week The marijuana market is hardly ever predictable. Maybe that's not fair. It is predictable over long hauls, but short-term spans of days and weeks can be volatile. That's to be expected when you're playing an emerging market. Stocks shoot up with…

California Marijuana Laws in 2018 This year will see the largest marijuana market so far open up to recreational weed. No, I'm not talking about Canada. California is not only larger than Canada by about three million people, it produces about $1.0 trillion more in gross domestic product…

Canopy Growth Earnings Report Review While 2018 hasn't exactly been the kindest year to marijuana stocks so far, that hasn't stopped several heavy hitters in the industry releasing impressive financial earnings reports. The latest Canopy Growth earnings report, for instance, once again solidified why the largest marijuana company…
